yeah the power band is on the low end side of thr rpm band which is where you need it and where most of the torque will be needed for like towing

noob question, what does duration and lift mean? and is it the more of each the better or what? im rebuilding my 289 and just want a mild cam and lifter setup. hyrdraulic preferably. with roller lifters and rockers.

lift is how far the valve opens up and duration is for how long the valve stays open.......if you want a decent idle go lower on duration and compensate for it on lift...as far as putting a roller cam in your 289 block you'd need to buy a retro fit roller cam and lifter set up and the cam choices are minimal for the retro fit set up and the lifters are like 400 to 500 i'd be cheaper to buy a 5.0 roller cam block and add the proper conversion balancer and flexplate and or flywheel depending on your set up.....

well the smaller cam has less duration and lift.. and will probably give you a slightly better idle quality due to less duration.....I might go with the smaller one.....but the real question is what are you doing and what is this motor going in???? are you planning on towing.....is that why you want a rv/toming cam meant for producing torque...if however this is going in a mustang and your looking for low end power then I'd look more so at performance camshafts not rv/towing cams. cause a performance cam will have a broader power band and still have plenty of bottom end and mid range power

Yeah, both of those cams are on the small side for a performance engine, but great for towing if it's going into a truck.
