Default Trunk Shocks

Hey all,

So I'm trying really hard to come up with something to get my old man for x-mas. Then I remembered that the springs for his trunk lid broke about a year ago. Since then he has been using a stick (painted Ford blue of course) to hold open his trunk. Well at my work's employee car show I saw a 67 ragtop with trunk shocks. Unfortunately, the owner was not around to ask about them. So I don't know if he got them as a kit, or if they were home made. But I think they would definitely work. They seemed to mount parallel to the bottom of the trunk attaching to the wheel well and the trunk lid arm.

If nobody has any knowledge of a kit, I was wondering if anyone could do me a favor and maybe post pics of the area (pref. from a convertible) and maybe even do a little measuring of the distance from the trunk lid arm to a point that you would think the shock could mount on the wheel well.

He has a 68 convertible if that makes any difference in the trunk, as far as I know that area seems to be the same for all years for convertibles.

Thanks again....
