Default Paint Removal

Ive been sanding paint off the roof of my 66 and I have9 layers of paint and primers to remove. My question is can I use any strippers and if so what kind? Also if I use a striper what will be needed to get the metal clean afterwards? Thanks for any ideas.

How much trouble is it to clean after you use these strippers? Thanks

20 grit sandpaper and a angle grinder. Nothing works faster!

The residue will wash off with soap and water, it will not pose any problems, used it many, many times without issue.

You may need to apply more than once since you have such a heavy accumulation of paint.

+1 on RModel65's recommendation on the plastic....

Be real careful if you use this approach , lots of clean up sanding will be required to take the marks out left by the 20 grit.

Like most of these guys above,I used aircraft stripper. The stuff I bought was in gel form. It worked great even though my car had about 4 coats of paint on it. I think Rmodel65 hit the nail on the head with the plastic wrap........ it's a good idea.

Thanks for all the info. I think I will try the stripper. Their is so much paint on the car I dont think I could get it all sanded off in the door jambs and other tight spots.
