Default rust proof?

How do you rust proof a mustang... because I am going to be taking my mustang with me when I transfer over to a school in MO next school year and my car has been blessed with a long life in AZ and has surface rust in a few places and nothing more and I would like to neutralize the rust that it has (which is VERY little) and prevent anymore rust which I am sure will run rampant in MO if no preventative steps are taken now...

Can I just spray an undercoating/sealant on it or is there a special way to take care of rust prevention.
Not that it matters because of how moist it is in MO but I won't be driving much since its a small town and I will be busy with school most of the week, but it is my DD.

Id sand the rust off and then use the undercoating following the directions on it.Or you can use por15 which stands for paint over rust it works and makes the nice and hard.

I sand the rust down to good clean metal then apply a coat of Metal Ready(made by POR) which will etch the surface and neutralize any rust and then apply a coat of POR15.If you want to topcoat another color over that you will have to topcoat the POR15 with Tie-Coat primer or Equivalent!! I have always done it this way and it works great.Hope this answers the ?[8D]

Go to eastwood company online and take a look at all the products they have for just that.
Por 15 seems to be the go to for this from what ive seen.
I cut it all out of mine. BIG job dont think I would ever do another one that involved.

Two choices, go to the desert, Nevada is a good place. or as everyone else said, POR15. That and coat the entire car inside and out with a rhino lining and you'll NEVER have to worry about rust again!
