In Ohio you need to fill out an application for the plates with your vin and they mail your antique plates to you. It costs a one time fee of $19. but no yearly cost after that.

and granted it has to be 25yrs or older vehicle

In Jersey, you can get them for your car, I don't know about charge, but that's the easy part. Insurance is what you're gonna need to worry about.

They just changed it, at least in NJ, where the insurance no longer restricts your mileage, but, it WILL NOT cover an accident unless you are going to or from a LEGITIMATE car show or LEGIT garage to have work done to it.

I'd check into the insurance aspect before worrying about the plates.

Same in Florida, but they have you mail the plate in to authenticate it. I had painted mine to match the car and then it got denied because certain years had certain color combinations. So I bad another plate off ebay for a few bucks. Sent it in to get authenticated (1 time check) and now I am going to paint that one.

What do you guys mean by "paint" the plates? You are legally allowed to do that? If you did that to any plate around here you'd get yanked and ticketed IMMEDIATLY!!!! LOL!!!
