so the line was disconnected from the advance and blocked off??? or was the line still open? also if you accelerate slowly can you maintain high RPMs with decent power? Did you ever check to make sure the accelerator pump was squirting? I know the carb is new but the in carb pump may still be bad. when you first go to WOT the car needs extra fuel because the ventury effect has not cought up yet

the carb sucks and the suck triggers the advance

Yes, the carb port should provide the suction (trying to avoid saying "suck it").

If you are getting no suction from the carb, you may be hooked to a port that is not manifold vacuum. What type of carb do you have?

backwards guys. I disconected the line going to the carb "AT THE CARB" and I didn't plug the nipple on the carb, just left it open. So really I didn't do anything at all. It could still be the advance because I didn't disconect the hose from the right place huh? I should of diconected it at the advance and plugged it. Right?

Also I already tried the carb cleaner trick. But didn't check it around the where the carb mounts to the manifold. Ill check that right now. brb.

should have unpluged the hose from the advance and then plugged the HOSE. Try it with your finger on the hose end and have some one start the car so you can see if the hose, still attached to the carb, is providing suction, then once you know there is suction plug off the hose and take the car for a test drive.

Does the car have points or electronic ignition? Also you can check you vacuum advance by removing your distributor cap and (yes) sucking on the vacuum hose. You should see it move. Sounds kinda like old crappy points to me with a tad of condenser screwing up. That'll be two cents.

Well I found a problem if not the problem. I have a manifold leak inbetween the carb and the manifold. Gonna get a gasket and fix that. Tried to tighten it down but it didn't help. Would the leak I just found account for all my problems I'm having? Well that and a carb tune up?

That leak is probably the problem. the carb will need to be retuned after the leak is fixed.
