Moving to Chattanooga TN. Maybe?
Anyone in the Chattanooga area? I have been interviewing with a company in Chattanooga and they are pretty interested. I kinda just want to know more about the area. Is it a classic car town, will my Mustang be happy living in Chattanooga. Looking over the crime stats shows alot of cars getting stolen. I use my Mustang as a daily driver in CA, will I still be able to do that in Chat, or will she turn into a weekend driver. How is traffic and the roads?
Sorry for all the questions. I am going to visit in January, but would like some third party opinions. From my research Chattanooga seems like a great place, but locals really know what is up.

I live in Kentucky, moved there from Chicago. They are laid back, slow and a little goofy but never had an issue being accepted. Visited Chatanooga a few times, seams pretty nice area...
IMO it will be a lot cheaper than CA, and the "good old boys" will generally take toanyone who is not an ****ole, you wont have any problems.
Chattanoogaisin't really your typical southern city. A little more "upper crust", but still lots cheaper than CA.
and the traffic is much better....

To tell you the truth, I am excited to get out of CA, and from what I have researched Chattanooga is really nice. My wife is pushing me hard to sell the Mustang though, her arguments are it's too expensive to tow the car across the country, I might not have a garage for it, and it will probably get stolen parked out on the street. It's hard to argue. I don't want to sell. I have just been blowing her off, but January is coming fast. I would love to take my car with me.
we'll eventually be moving up to the chattanooga area. check out Hixson, its about 30 minutes from downtown so its a good distance for the daily commute. the town is middle class with some upper class, malls, resturants, every store you can want, its right next to the river and dam so theres water activities right there.
my aunt and uncle lived there and just built a house a couple towns over, i'll be looking in Hixon when we go up.

i moved from california to northern Alabama, cost of living here is 1/3 less, houses are 1/2 the cost, but huntsville is not a Ford friendly place imo.
as for Tennessee / Alabama be ready for a serious change in life style.
(not putting down any religions) church is the big thing here, and i am not that into it, i prefer working on the stang than seeing everyone at church pretending to be what they are not! !
just remember, if you have a house in California dont sell it unless your absolutly sure you want to stay in Tennessee, since you probly wouldnt be able to get another one for the same money !

What do you mean? Lots of rich people? I will actually be taking a pay cut if I move out there, will it be hard to get by if I'm not $$, can't be as bad a California. The thing I hear is it is a "Good ol Boys" place and they don't take well to Californians.
