frame off question
whats up, im a newbie to the forum thing so bare with me. i have a 69 mach 1 and im wanting to take the body off the frame to do the real detailing i want, ive got the car pretty much stripped just wondering how hard it is to get the body off, also i wonder if me and a couple guys could lift the body without damaging the metal. any info would be appreciated!
Yea, it is a unibody, but you can take all of the bolt on parts off in order to doa real nice job on the details. I can't say much about a 69, but the 64 - 66 style Mustangs are a work of art based upon their udder simplicity, I imagine that a 69 is a bit more complex but still a very simple car.
Post your questions here and you will get answers!!
Since the car is a unibody, it will take more than a couple of strong men to handle the body, but, much (all) of the work can be done from under the car when properly supported. The exception might be if you have extensive rust on the bottom side of the car.
If you really want to work on the bottom you will need to get a rotisserie (<thank you spell check!
)so you can turn the body at will. There are a few members here who have used them, MustangLover66 made his own killer rotisserie.

appreciate the info , yea i knew it was unibody but i always hear frame off resto by alot of guys? the rust isnt bad at all the floor pans need replacing i was wondering if anyones done a full floorpan install really i could get by with the front and back only (without the toe)but someone has messed up the the floor where the shifter comes through and instead of patching it i was wanting to replace it also, so if i did go with full pan would i have to weld any kinda bracing before i cut the old one out? one more question, do u think a gravity fed sand blaster would be to harsh or 2 much a mess 2 do the engine bay and undercarage?

And yea, "frame off" is a a well used term, that is not always used in the strictest sense of the word. I think I knew what you meant.
Here's a good link on replacing the floor pans yourself. It's not hard to do if you take your time and no one will see your mig seams.
