Default Car Troubles

I just got my first Mustang a few weeks ago (1965, 289 HiPo, Pony Int) and she has been running like a dream. There are always a few things to fix, but she has been great. I had adjust the carberator so that she was just purring. Then...

A few days ago, she started sputtering and idling odd. Now she won't start. When you turn the key, she turns over, but she never catches. I started my troubleshooting with removing and replacing the old air filter. Then I went to the fuel pump by disconnecting the hose, put it into a bottle and turning the key. Fuel went straight into the bottle without pushing the gas pedal. But she just won't catch otherwise. When I put the gas pedal to the floor, she almost catches, but never gets going.

I am not overly good with troubleshooting cars, and don't have a tremendous amount of experience doing anything but changing oil, sparkplugs, unflooding a carb, etc. If anyone could point me in a direction to go from here, it would be much appreciated.

Its an old Fuel Pump, without the fuel filter on the bottom of it, at least like the ones available online. I was thinking about replacing it alltogether, as it's not too expensive. New lines, etc. Thanks for the suggestion.

theres no filter at the front of the carb? (more familiar with later models)somtimes they get clogged with gunk from the tank/lines if the car has been sitting for some time and then gets driven. perhaps its your ignition points just got fried

Take you air cleaner off and pour a little gas down in the carburetor. If it fires us then, you have some fuel delivery problems. Most likley a stopped us fuel filter. If it does not fire, then you most likley have some fire issues.
