ok let me re phrase it, i replaced the main gasket on it, but the car hadnt been ran in about 4 weeks and the gas in brand new, but i got it running, good i think it was just the old gas that was still left in the lines, but the engines not stock at all and the carbs almost brand new,

Old school rule, you want to make sure the ignition system is in good shape before you go to the carb. Is a tune-up in order? Plugs, plug wires, points, condensor, cap, rotor. Then setting dwell and timing. Then carburation. The other most important factor is that the engine is in good working order, no vacuum leaks and good even compression.
Good luck,
Lowell

Did it have a rough idle before the rebuild? If it didn't there is likely a vacum leak associated with the carb like the base gasket or lines being old. Sometimes just removing an old vacum line is enough to make it leak. If it was rough before then you'll have to check ignition as well as vacum leaks.

before i rebuilt the carb it was fine it had just got back from the shop that changed the ignition, plugs and wires, and the only reason i rebuilt it was because of my stupid friend some how got paint in it and luckily it didnt get into the engine so i just took the top of to clean in out, but its all fixed its running good.
