on second thought, I would say don't cut the original mounting tab. Leave it in place and fabricate a new one from something line (1/4" sheet metal?) amd box it in around the back

you could strengthen the vack side of it by just Ting it off from the existing frame?

exactly...but then you are moving the front portion more than the rear portion. I think a new fuel tank would be needed to make it work.

would you still be using a shackle in the rear? that might be the perfect place for slider spring mounts in the rear from Cobra Automotive

well im thinking that if you use a shackle in the front and then not use one in the rear. pretty much reversing the way the springs are mounted that would give you the couple of inches you need to get the tires up against the frame?

ground clearance wouldnt be a problem. performance might be a problem though.

Maybe one of the suspension experts can tell us why reversing the leaf spring mounts is a bad idea.
