Default Help with vin

I recently bought a 69 mustang to restore, the vin is 9R01F148276 but all the classic mustang vin decoders seem to give me very limited information...it tells me where it was made, the year, engine size. But not the model. Someone told me it looked like a "sportsroof" it has a somewhat strange design for a mustang of this year, instead of side scoops by the doors, it has more of a simple flare. It does have the four head lights in the front like most 69 mustangs...but the rest looks more like a 70s model. Also can you guys recommend any body kits to make it look more like a 69 fastback? i dislike the rear of the car especially, it is very simple and not at all what most 69 mustangs look like.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sportsroof is the same as fastback, which has the side sccops behind the door and the upswept tail panel. The body code is usually on the door tag, with a 63C being a Mach1 and a 63A being a regular sportsroof. All others are coupes, which is what sounds like what you have.
I don't think there is a way to convert a coupe to fastback, but you can dress up the rear with a stock type wing if you like. Also, the 67s had the rear 'flares' pointed the opposite direction, sort like a ferrari.

Thanks for the quick reply, I agree I belleive its prob a standard coupe. The side 'flares' do point the other way...their basicly a bunch of very short fins slanted towards the rear of the car...I think its ugly and would like to replace it with the scoops....but my doors dont have the indention leading up to the the flares like the fastbacks...their just pretty much flat.

Dude, you may have a very special car. In 1969 Shelby de Mexico produced 306 Shelby G.T. 350s. They were based on coupes with 302s, but got fiberglass roofline extensions to make them look like a sportsroof. They also wore slightly bulged fiberglass hoods 1965 Thunderbird taillights. This is a good possibility and a rare find.

Here's the link that talks about this -

The body series number (O1) in your case indicates it is a 2 door hardtop. But the numbers you gave are the warranty numbers. Now add the other numbers such as body, color etc. Use this decoder. http://www.mustangdecoder.com/decoder.html

I would go to this link and contact the person who runs the site. Refer him to the information on the 69 Shelby GT 350's made in Mexico and ask him what the serial numbers of those cars look like.
