Default '67 Stang

I just found a '67 coupe for sale. The guy will take 1200 for it. My question is is it worth it. The engine was rebuilt but got some water in it during the process of bolting back in so it is locked up. There is some surface rust on the top and the trunk. The rear quarter panels have a little deeper rust. The interior will need to be touched up and it needs a whole new dash. Can ayone help me as soon as possible. Also the engine is a 289. Thanks for the help.

i'd say for 1200, go for it. Pixs would help though.

Could definitly use some pictures to help you better, but I'd say go for it. Check carefully for heavy rust esp. in the frame-rails, cowl, and shock towers. Since there is rust on the outside, I garuntee you there is big rust hiding in the floor.

Sounds pretty good for a 289 car. Pictures would definitely be helpful if you can get some. I dont know all that much about engines but it seems that if it was rebuilt and then seized it would be alot cheaper to fix that then to rebuild one that was seized for another reason. When you say it needs a new dash what do you mean? the whole metal part of the dash needs replacing or the dash pad needs replacing or what? Be sure that it is just surface rust (besides the quarter panels) cuz rust is prolly the most expensive thing to fix.

Just keep in mind: The cheaper a car is to buy outright, the more it will cost to fix up.

I don't have any pixs. I just went & saw it tonight so I don't more about it than what I said. Me and my dad told him we would buy it and when we were going home we were talking about it and we decided not to. This would be my first classic and of course I want it but there was just something about it that was holding me back I don't know what though. I think if I just wait a little longer I'll get something better for a little more money. Thanks for the help though I really appreciate it.

Good plan. I'd rather buya 6-10k v8 and have a nice running car to begin with, than a cheap one which will need lots of work and end up costing over 10k. Good luck

i'd go for...thats a steal man. I've seen just frames go for more than that. If it's not too bad you could always sell it for more.
