how much better are the 70-73 spindles? you also will have to order 70-73 brake kits right?

Yes, the 70-73 spindles are stronger. And yes, you will need to order brakes for the 70-73. You will also need the 70-73 outer tie rod ends or a bump steer kit.
I used the 70 spindles to convert mine to Baer Brakes.
