ok, I am a little rusty on the GTs.
This thing is a 65 A code, factory black GT...apparently.
Without pony interior and with a 3 speed.
Was such a thing available out of Ford or is this more likely a dealer GT or a fake???
he's asking $80K Aussie (roughly $70k US)...you guys think your fastback prices are high

to me, the car matches the data plate...or the plate has been bought to match the car. Whatever!
there is nothing on the data plate or vin that actually says its a GT...and it has clearly been restored, so may or may not have been a GT (factory or dealer) when it started life.
I'm not sold on the 3 speed manual either. I hope someone can provide the answer on this.
There are a lot of 65/66 stangs in Aus sold by dealers claiming "matching numbers" when we all know they didnt have engine numbers related to Vin back then. I guess I am a sceptic with all cars given the skyrocketing prices over here.
True66, the 65 GTs had 66 dash didnt they??

All '65 GTs had the '66 dash.
There are a lot of little identifiers, but none prove 100% that a car IS a factory GT except the original paperwork and/or a PIO buck tag. They will prove a car is NOT a factory GT.

no rally pack, pony interior, 4 speed....I know some of these might of been options but it makes this car highly suspect. I swore I read somewhere that all gts came with power steering or something also.
