Man this was a tough thread to read.... I hope you can can get to an acceptable resolution soon that doesn't involve murder in the first degree.

I can't recall following a thread in the Classic Forum that mentioned firepower more than horsepower but there is certainly probable cause in this case.

In court, I think that you could successfully argue that the life of your car was in grave danger and you simply had no other choice.

I don't mean to take your situation lightly at all. On a serious note, hang in there... it has to get better. And even though it probably seems like complete BS, it really could be worse.

thanks for the support guys.

engine has to come out anyway. we may be able to retap the holes on an engine stand. the worst affected were the front 3 extractor bolt holes on the left hand side and the middle ones on the right.

the scary part is, we now suspect he had taken the plugs out while working on this and there could be all sorts of metal and dust in on top the pistons.

its gunna mean pulling the heads off to be sure no further damage.

well, its exactly why i do ALL the work on my vehicles.

i've never done a rearend, but i'll be doing the gears myself in the 2006 GT rather than let even the shmucks at ford touch my car (unless its warranty work, which this wouldnt be)

I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. I would call the guy and ask him if he plans on compensating you for your loss. Take many pictures and get written statements from the guys that witnessed the start up. Keep all the broken parts too. If he tells you to **** off, you can take out a full page add in the paper explaining your problem with this guy. This will hurt his new business. Or you may be able to sue him in court. If you don't feel like doing either of those mabe your two buddies will make it so he can't reproduce. Good luck.

Dude! I looked at this thread when you first posted and was at a loss for words. The first screwup was bad enough and if it had been me I'd have at least offered to pay for the replacement parts. Thats at the very least! I can also understand where you were coming from not wanting to force it on him, however... after reading more tonight I'd definately be telling him he needs to start offering some compensation to you in either cash or replacement parts. This was simple carelessness and not giving a crap on his part. I'm pretty sure I'd be finding someone else for the work at this point. Hope things turn around for the better soon!

I'm just getting started (another few weeks) on my 67 and will be working on it with other more knowledgable people including my father. I'm gonna make sure *I* read up on everything I can before starting each stage.
