Default Engine block paint w/pics

Just a quick question, I plan on painting my intake. I spent a few days getting it ready for paint so its all clean and ready to go. Any tips or problems I should be aware of? Im going to be unique and paint it black, (the block will stay the darker ford blue) Im useing an engine paint thats good for up to 500 deg.

im trying to set my car apart from the rest. I have painted the car sunburst orangeeffect II andkept the black vynal topand the inside of the car is black with chrome accents, so I wanted to bring more black into the engine area to make the chrome pop more. Im using black ford racing valve covers and the large black oval ford air filter. So far this is what it looks like before paint. (my alternator is removed and painted black as well) My power steering pump and bracket is black also.

The Pic's are just a taste more to come!!!!

The engine was put back in the car about a month ago, so of coure this is an after the fact change. Its easy to get to the manifold so its not a pain to remove and repaint....(yeh right)
As you can tell I have already done the water pump blackand

some of the masking is still on the block, sorry.

All I can tell you is to make sure it is flawlessly clean and use some Prep Sol right before painting it.Also stick some old bolts in the threaded parts to keep the paint out of the threads.Good luck!! Looks like you have done a great job so far!

Not sure what prep sol is, but you can blast it with brakleen or lacquer thinner and then go over it lightly with a gas torch to burn off any water/oil in the pores of the metal. Then prime (if you want) and paint.

[align=left]It looks great as is. But being your engine you can paint it ponk if you wanted to. As mentioned before, brakleen works great and then maybe a diluted muratic acid/water mixture will etch and final clean the manifold.

Hi!

Unpainted is good as long as you dont use the car. When you use it the cast will get dirty and you will have problems to clean it.

If you have a company that makes plastic coating do that (and dont be as stupid like the guys from OCC:Everytime they get tha parts back from Plasticcoating they see that the bolt holes must be retreatend and the gasket-flanges must be redone. EVERYTIME! SINCE YEARS!!!!)

Then your Intake will be very easy to clean and it looks great

Im using a set of headman headrs from Hawaii Racing Full tube nickle plated. The series are their Elite Coated series. Theycost abit more but fit great. The rims are your basic TT 2's with 245/50/16 falcons. With my 1 1/2 in drop I have about a finger and a half of space from the fender. I will post some more pics when the engine is done.
