Default question about a 65 fastback

My cousin just bought a 65 Fastback. It is in really good condition just was restored from ground up. My cousin wants to add the louvers to the quarter windows. I looked in Mustangs Unlimited because that is where my Dad and I got everything for our 65 Conv. I only see stuff for the 67-68. Any other places I could look? How big of a deal would it be to add these, minus paint?

Are you saying the car currently has the Shelby windows in place of the louvres? The only place I could find the exterior louvres for a '65/66 is ebay. They're out there pretty often. He'll need the complete package, ie, the chrome inserts and probably the interior panel as well.

He could sell the Shelby windows on ebay (complete package) to recoup some $$

The biggest issue you may have to deal with is that the shelby windows are larger then the original openings for the louvres. You may not be able to reinstall louvres if the openings have been butchered.A patch panel is available, about $199.00 each, if this is the case.Big D Mustang has them@ www.bigdmustngs.com

it is not a shelby, it is a plain 65fastback, the previous owner put the GT350 strip kit on but it is not a shelby....he just wants to add the louvers over the rear quarter windows.

Yep, we understand its not a Shelby. Many people replace the louvres with the windows because its, well,.....cool. But the louvres get attached to sheet metal that is long gone if the windows are there. He's going to have to bond them in place over windows. Or get the patch panel.

so it seems like it is going to be fairly involved. Little body work plus parts, paint and finish basically?
