Default stanis this a BOSS 301 engine?

myfather-in-law just passed away and he was installing this motor into a 84 mustang for some reason, he was an odd guy. He had told people that it was a Boss engine he was intalling into it and he spent $5000 getting it restored, the enigine not the car. I know little of engines but i was able to get a number off the back of the block it was
RF-E3ZE-9425-FC. the carb from what i am told was just on there to test the motor and the original carb is still in the garage.
thanks jeff

did you get that number from behind the starter. I never saw a ford part number start with RF- but the rest on that number decodes as a engine part from a 83 mustang the block numer should be -6015-.

ford used the slogan the boss is back in 82-83 probably a 302 out of a gt not a boss though a boss motor would have to start with c9(1969) or D0(1970)

Just look at the freeze plugs, Boss blocks were the only ones from the factory to have screw in freeze plugs.
