Default Need opinions

ok So I've noticed quite a few companies turning 67 and 68 mustang coupes into fastbacks(clones) and i wanted to know what you guys think of this. I've saw a coupe mustang that had a tree fall on the roof in my area a while back and im pretty sure its for sale and was thinking of getting this done if i can get it for cheep enough but i want some opinions about this from you guys first. thanks in advance for your help

It's neither cheap nor easy unless you have extensive experience with welding and bodyworking and cheap access to fastback interior parts. Much cheaper and easier to simply buy a gutless fastback and start there.

I wouldn't want to evey try that unless I was good enough to do body work for a living. That is a lot of work.

You would have to get a FB top clip and the deck area. There is a lot of chrome pieces for the door jambs and rear window. Door glass and rear glass, interior fiberglass pieces and a lot of other stuff. If you priced those clones they are doing, over $10 grand for a hull. It is a lot of body work, if you found a FB that needed restoring, I think it would be cheaper and easier. Plus the resale would be a lot better.

i know someone that does it by my house. i swear he does such a good job you would never know the difference. but how much it costs, i could tell you. and im guessing for the price id rather just get a real fastback.

Bad idea. If you simply can't live without a FB, go buy an original.
