I am looking for headers too...I heard that the tri y has some problems fitting.....I think i have read on this site where guys have had to dent the header with a hammer to make them fit.I just talked to a guy that put hooker super competetion headers in a 66 with no problems...he said it was a little tight on the drivers side but he got them in....Scott

my triys fit fine after i made a plate to fit between the motor and the mount. it raised the engine up 1/2 an inch. but after 40 years, the motor starts to sag a little and arnt always gonna fit. but with new motor mounts they should be fine. i bought the cheap black painted ones and i work at a machine shop so i sent mine out to get cermaic coated for $100. so i pretty much paid $220 for black ceramic coated headers rather than buying some pre coated ones for $300+.

After researching for a few months and talking to several tri-y owners, the consensus was that tri-y quality is hit or miss. Aside from FPA and Doug Thorley (which are awesome, but expensive), they're all made overseas, so quality control isn't exactly a top priority. I've talked to people who have recieved tri-y's that were so poorly welded that they returned them, and I've talked to other people who've bought them from the same places and found them to be just fine. I think the best you can do is order the best deal you find from a bigger wherehouse and return them if you're not satisfied.

I tried a couple sets of ceramic Tri-Y and could not stand them. Each set had different problems. Hedmann fit beautifully, they slid right in and look great.

I used the ones from Tony Branda and they fit perfectly.

I have the black patriots from Va Mustang on there now with no mods needed and plan on getting the Nickel Plated from Tony Branda when I put the 347 in. Branda is the best price I've been able to find so far.
