Default smoking a lot...

i put a new vacuum modulator in my 67 mustang and put tranny fluid in it. i accidently put a bit too much and instead of going up to the line that says full its a bit past it and goes up to the u in full...that probably isn't that much over that it's a big deal is it? also since i put tranny fluid it in its smoking a lot of white smoke that smells a bit sweet outta the tail pipes...what can be burning?

try disconnecting the modulator hose and starting up the car. If it doesnt smoke anymore then you know its sucking in fluid and burning it, probably because its overfilled.

sounds like you have a coolant leak. Did you do anything to the car at the time?

yes i checked it with the car running, and after it warms up it starts to smoke. i thought maybe i had a blown head gasket but the car hasnt been driven in a long time so i dont think i have a coolant leak, and when i did an oil change the oil was like black and my friend told me it would look milky if i had a blown head gasket. but like i said after it warms up it is a bit past full on the dipstick. that could be the problem?

Overfilling the transmission won't cause fluid to go through the vacuum modulator.
Disconnect the vacuum line as suggested. If it stops smoking you need a new modulator.

White smoke that smells sweet is coolant. Hopefully it's just an intake manifold gasket, but could be the head gasket or the head.

Good luck with it.

One way to check the head gasket is to take the cap off the radiator and run the car until the thermostat opens. If you see bubbles, you have a head gasket problem. Generally white smoke means you are burning coolant.

Famous last words. Unfortunatly there are planty of defective parts right out of the box.
Your post makes the smoking and tranny work sound related.
