Been using a few online guides tonight while chatting about tires. We're thinking of going with the Vintage 50 series wheels with 16x8 in the rear and 15x7 in the front. Will be doing the UCA 1" drop in front and putting in new 4 leaf springs in the rear. Looking at using 235/60 16 in rear and 215/70 15 in the front. Photo below shows that this gives the overall height of the front and rear tires to be very close. We're after a fairly flat ride though the front will be down slightly (hopefully after the new leaf springs relax). I like big tires with a good wide wall.. not narrow rubber bands on wheels
. Anyone know off hand what the new gear we should use for the speedometer would be? Will be replacing the C4 with a 4-speed toploader.
Also.. how do you think they will look and fit?

Forgot to follow up to this.. Not sure why you think they are 1 inch to high. @ 27" yes they will fill the wheel well however with the 215s in front they should still turn without hitting. If I'm wrong please correct me. The car currently has 235 60 R14 Rear and 205 70 R14 Fronts and both look to have lots of room to spare. Again... if I'm wrong...

Hmm.. Sidewalls are 5.6" rear and 5.9" front. Thats pretty darn close (less than 3/8") and it help offset the 15" front and 16" rear wheels. With different sized wheels you generally don't want the same series tire. The tires themselves side to side are extremely close to being the same. 50s are smaller then I have on it now.
Looking at the Tire Size Calculator again a looked at dodgestang suggestion and they work out pretty close as well. 215 65 15 and 235 55 16 thought this increases the sidewall difference just slightly.

well for me a thicker sidewall in the front is NOT a option, itjust lookswrong and could add tire roll.Being that your going with 2 different size tires, its gonna be hard to find the same pattern,I dont understand why you want the height of a 15" wheel to match a 16" wheels, but it sounds like your set on the sizes, so good luck.

I'm not really set on these exact sizes however I do want the height of the front and rear tires to be close. Going with 245/50 and 225/50 there is over an inch difference which is not what I want. Not saying it would look bad, as it most likely does look good. With wanting the car to sit level (not up in the rear or front) I think thecar will look better with the same tire height. Finding the tires is not an issue as I've already looked them up with a number of manufactures. Likely go with something like the BFGoodrich Radial T/A. Thanks for your comments though.
