Figuring out my 351c
Can you guys help me find out the specifications on my 351c by the code. I want to find out the year it was made, stockhp and torq, and any info i can get on it. Where do i find the engine code tho? The manifold? I have the exhaust manifolds off the car because i put headers on it and they also have a number.
The intake manifold casting number is easily read as it is located on the top of the manifold behind the carb. It will say something like DOAE-9425-L and above that there should be a 2 or a 4 denoting 2V or 4V carb and also a date code like 0K13 which is the year (1970) the month (november) and the day (thirteenth day of month). The heads are a little more tricky. First, on the top front corner on each side there will be either a 2 or 4 stamped right next to where the valve cover attaches to the head. This tells you whether you have a 2V or 4V head. There may or may not be a dot next to the number. There will be a date code on top of the head which can be seen after removing the valve cover. It is decoded just like the example given above for the intake manifold. The casting numbers for the heads are on the bottom on the intake side and can only be viewed with the heads off. However, you can take a mirror and a flashlight and see them if you have the intake manifold off. If you can't see them with the mirror you can take a clean sheet of white paper and a pencil and do a rubbing. Once you have the numbers, you can go to this site to see what it is you have.

The block numbers are decoded in a similar fashion and they are located behind and above the starter. You can get info on blocks on the same site. If you are unsure, post your numbers and I will try and help.

NUMBER BEHIND CARB ON MANIFOLD

NUMBER INFRONT OF CARB ON MANIFOLD (it has a 4 with a circle in it does that mean its a 4bbl? all this time i thought it was a 2 because of the carb.

MAYBE YOU CAN TELL BY THE LOOKS OF THE HEAD IF ITS 2V OR 4V?

ok. there is now like 3 other posts about peoples blocks cause they saw this but yet i dont have any replys on my code. it would be really nice to see what i have in my car. im pretty pumped. so can yall help me decode this cause i sure dont know where the heck to start. i think the 4with a circle in it indicates a 4v manifold?
This really doesnt help cause i have a tricky number. it says D3AE-8425-CA above that is a big 10 and next to that is a plate that reads 3J8 the front of the manifold infront of the carb reads 13726548 with a 4 circled.
The carb reads D4PE EC and under EIJ 17. Exhaust mannifolds have F with circle on both and one has D28E-9430-BA and other D12E-8481-AA
Water pump has big letters ATF and an A with a circle and 30823 under. I cant seem to figure out what engine this came out of. I was told it came out of a 72 torino but the numbers dont indicate that. Can anyone help me decode this.

We need to see if there is a 2 or a 4 on the top front corner of either head when looking down from the top. Also need the casting number from the block. The intake was cast in 73 so the motor could be anything at this point. Can you just pull the air cleaner off and see what kind of carb you have? 2 barrell or 4 barrell? Autolite, Edelbrock, Holley? Squarebore or spreadbore? Help us help you.
