Console question
Do you guys know where to buy the thin metal that goes between the woodgrain stickers and the camera body type metal on the console for my 1966?
I am sure I can buy some thin sheet metal and cut my own but VA mustang and NPD does carry this part.
Also, My console is black and it has some scratches that show like a yellow/tan color.
Have you ever painted the console?
If so is the ford interior black the correct paint for this? That paint to me looks a liitle more glossy the current black of the console.
Thanks Scott

Tonys is pretty good.I first used him last year.I was going to use him again but he rushed me off the phone and he suggested to e mail him what I needed. The link for his e mail didnt work so I bought a repop kit of the stickers.I kinda thought I could re use the strips but it wasnt the case..they where glued on really tight and they bent/distorted pulling them off.
Last year he sent me free of charge a small sample for the smallest piece I was missing.I finally decided to redo the whole console. The "wood sticker" that tony sent me seems to be the exact same stuff quality wisethat I just received in the mail in a repop kit.
I bought a piece of .020? sheet metal at the hardware store, traced the old strips, and my friend (a NYC union tin knocker) said he would cut them for me.I think this is going to work out fine.
As long as the thin metal fits good all you have to do is apply the wood stickers (which are a little big on purpose) flip them over and trim with a straight edge razor then glue the stips back in place.
Thanks Scott
the ford black interior paint is more glossy then the current console....is mine just faded and dull?
should I re paint it while it is out?
