289 Mileage

Just out of curiosity, what kind of gas mileage do u get in your 289?

That would depend on the mods it has on it. With my old 2bbl I got about 16 miles to the gallon but with my 4bbl im pushing 12

The on ei had in 65 was getting about 18 with the 4bbl as long as I stayed out of it. It also had the 2.79 rear in it.

With a good tune on a stock 289 with c-4 and a light foot I used to get 15-18 depending on what kind of driving I was doing.

my 302 (same block, larger stroke) gets 11-13mpg with a 4bbl carb. its pretty out of tune though, ive just been to cheap to get it tuned professionaly. ill probably have that done this summer

9mpg with vac sec. 4bbl carb. This is with a bad tune. Plan on installing an O2 sensor soon and doing the tune myself with the help of my genious brother.

I get 17 mpg with 2.79 gears and a slightly modded 289.

I get 17 in town. 289 2 barrel, 3.25 gears, CDI box

i only get 8 mpg with my 4 barrel carb..............but i get there quick. doesnt matter whether i go 55,..........or 100 mph,.........i still get 8 mpg..............
