Default Monte carlo bar installation

Ibought a chrome curved monte carlo bar and need to install it. Where exactly does it fit though.. I already know that I need to put my front end on jack stands and get it to settle out about an inch, but does the bar bolt onto the shock towere top bolts and then into the holes that I drill or do I drill 4 new holes in the sheet metal? Pics could help if you have them..

thanks

There is a picture in This Post showing where its mounted in a 66. Using the Search will likely provide you with a few for a 69 specifically. I know on my 67 I'll only need to drill down for the top bolts. Mine dropped right in when I tested it so engine bay sides look to be nice and straight for me.

Try doing a google search for:

Mustang Monthly January 2005 - "How To: Install an Export Brace and a Monte Carlo Bar."

I have it in pdf format - I can email to you if you wish. Let me know.

The bar's mounting brackets should rest a few inches in front of the shock towers. If you are lucky, the 3 bolts on each side that hold your suspension gaurds will line up with your mounting brackets and you wont have to drill as many holes. However, on the top half of the brackets, you will have to drill a hole, since there are no existing holes to use.

Get yourself a rubber mallet, I had to use tough lovin' to make mine go in.

Well, It sat on jack stands for about a day and then the bar went in, but of course the holes didnt line up.. the bottom hole on each side was good, but I had to put a new hole in the bar to match the hole in the shock tower and the two new holes up on top for the new bolts.. Its lookin good now though..
