Default variable venturi carburetor

Does anyone know what a 'variable venturi carburetor' is?
I came across one on Ebay - is it worth buying?

They are the worst they dont use a choke they use the I dont eaven want to type that word you know the VV one. Unless you are a carb rebuiling ace and hollys and motorcrafts dont count I mean emmisons carbs stay away

Thats better I love the motorcraft 2 BBL . thare is nothing inside them olny takes 2minnuts and 46 seconds to rebuild .

I haven't seen those two words together in a long time. Fats is so right...they are junk. Post a link to the VV if you can, I would like to see how much someone would pay for one. I might actually have one in a dark corner of the shop. [&:]

I had one on my '81 Bronco's 351w. The others are right. Between that and the optical distributor, I'm not sure which was the worse design!
