does having underdrive pulleys increase your chances of overheating. If they are good for 10hp or so is it worth slowing down your accessories?

and how much horsepower is a v-belt good for? at what point do you need to switch to the 6-groove?

the underdrive pulleys do cause the water pump to run slower. but with a good radiator / water pump you shouldnt have any heating probs.

im not sure about the v belt question

also if im running 4.11s i will be running at high rpms. at a certain point i would think that you would want to slow down your pump so the water has more time to flow through the radiator and cool. If its all running too fast the water doesnt have time to cool. I would think.

No problem on the 408 with our underdrives. I think V-Belts are good through about any realistic street driven HP.

We have 4.10s also...

I just put March UDPs and headers on my 289this weekend. Runs much stronger. No overheating issue yet and I ran it pretty good today. I am happy!

I'm running a 7 rib serpentine style belt. More surface area on the blet = less belt tension. It's easier on bearings.

the only pulley that needs to be changed is the crank pulley, the others are done to take up the slack in the belt. I didn't have any problems overheating when I had my 347.
