Hey guys I was talking to my friend today and a question came up.
Is there any difference between a 65 fastback and a 65 2+2?
I thought they are the same thing?
All 65 and 66 fastbacks are 2+2 it means 2 people in the front and 2 in the back.
Kinda. The rear seat folds down in all 65-66 fb's so you have both a 2 seater and a 4 seater, hence"2+2." In 67, the fold-down rear seat became optional, so Ford dropped the 2+2 designation.
Actually, I've always wondered the same thing also. Is it Ford's marketing kick? Its on some and absent on others. My I6 65 Fastback had the 2+2 emblem (fold down), the GT's don't. "cmanf", don't beat me up too much.

Yeah, it was just a marketing deal. They wanted to market to both 2 and 4 seater audiences, so they marketed it as the best of both worlds. As far as the GT's go, I imagine it has to do with trim packages. They probably wanted to give the GT's a cleaner look so they wiped the 2+2 emblem off the side.
