Default Front End Please Help!

i just rebuilt the whole entire front suspension on my 67 coupe all new parts. I was so excited when I was finally putting the two front tires back on to test drive! To my surprise the rims that I have 245/40r17 91w are rubbing the upper control arm.?? What would be the best way to correct this problem?

1) Grind a little off the control arm so the wheel does not rub it?

2) By 1.5-2 in wheel spacers?

3) Front end alignment?

alright I got the problem solved with my wheel hitting the upper control arm. My initial problem was that my mustang was all over the road and was almost impossible to steer so I rebuilt the whole entire front suspension. The mustang has all new manual suspension parts and it is still all over the road. Could this be the car needing an alignment or are the tire that I have on the car 245/40r17 91w be the problem?

The only things that can cause the tire to rub the control arm are improper wheel backspacing or really bad wheel bearings. None of the rest of the steering/suspension will affect that.

You probably have incorrect backspacing on the wheels, so you'll either need to buy new ones with acceptable backspacing, or use some spacers.

However, you'll still need to wheels aligned as your chamber/caster will be wrong now, since you replaced it all...

upper and lower control arms are new. There are no spacers yet. However, this could make the car hard to steer on the road?

If you camber is way off and you didn't have much room for error to begin with it could cause it. I would get it algned first before making any moves. You need it either way. then you can decide what you need to do from there.
