Why not chose to use an accessory mount blower as opposed to a roots?

You can run a normal dizzy with a roots http://www.ford-y-block.com/feblowerint.htm they sell the intake and the spacer you'll need. The question is your engine build up to handle a blower?

A roots style blower is one that mounts on top of the engine, a centrifugal blower is just in the engine bay, mounted similar to an alternator or something and resembles a turbo more. Just another thought, you could look in to turbocharging your engine. I prefer turbos personally.
