cheap fun...
well i just ran out to summit racing and picked up a pair of purple hornies that bolt directly up to the headers. paid $80 for the pair and plan to have them on there by tomorrow. i figure it should be some cheap fun, even though most everyone on here hates glasspacks.
yeah...ill try and get a video for you guys when its done. ive been so busy running arrands today i havnt gotten the chance to put them on yet. i should have some time tomorrow though, i plan on doing an oil change, wash it, and put those things on.
That depends on what you mean by "break in". Back in the 70's we didn't think a set of cherry bombs sounded good until all of the fiberglass was burned out of them.....being young and stupid, we'd get a new set of glasspack really hot by driving pretty fast, them spray some cold water in them....when we reved the engine it would blow all that nasty old fiberglass out of them and they would immediately start sounding right.
I decided to edit this to state that I'm not advising that you do the same.....I did include in the story that we were young and stupid.

oh, so in that case i am definitely not going to do that
so you sprayed the cold water inside them? again, im not going to do that i just want to make sure that i...i mean my friend...does it the right way.

Yeah, like I said we were pretty much idiots...we'd run the car hard until the exhaust got hot. We would stop and with engine idling would run some water from a hose into each exhaust pipe...it wasn't sprayed in hard we just let it run itand it would run right out, but it did go in as far as the glasspacks and you'd hear the fiberglass and stuff crackling. Then we'd rev the motor and blow the water and bit's of fiberglass out. There'd be a very different sound afterwards....but glass packs were cheap back then. I really don't think the water could have gotten into the heads, but I wouldn't chance it these days....they'll "break in" on their own pretty quickly though.
I really do love the sound of glasspack behind a set of long tube headers......SUWEEET.

i actually like the sound of glasspacks. we had a ford conversion van (that my dad had done, WAY nicer than the ones you see come off the dealer lots - cost him cocaine and fireworks LOL) anyways the I6 blew up and he snagged a freshly rebuilt 302 from a wrecked stang and stuck it in there. dunno what cam it had but it was bigger than stock. had hooker longtubes with glasspacks bolted directly to the headers. pretty badass to have a nice luxury van that sounded like a rumbling snarling beast
