It all depends on how much over you were goingand what the local laws are for speeding. Expect at least $100.

After paying high premiums on my insurance for a while (this is where tickets really cost you) I learned to keep my foot out of it. Some life lessons are expensive!
It will all depend on how fast you were going. Not sure how it works for adults or whatever, but a couple of my friends have been able to plead their tickets down to lesser things as long as they go back to driving school. It will cost about the same as paying the ticket but you wont lose the points and if you get it pled down to a non-moving violation, your insurance premiums wont increase.
Also, If you were in an old mustang and not a newer car, you might be able to plead it down to a vehicle malfunction if you get a good judge. Just tell him your speedo was off cuz its old and you didnt know you were speeding.

Seems odd you wouldn't know how much it was as soon as the officer gave you the ticket. Around here, they write the amount on the ticket they hand you (I've never gotten one, but I was in the truck with my dad when he got one). Of course we don't deal with "points" on our licenses here either, wyoming is a bit old fashioned.
