Default Unknown Pistons on C3AE-D Rods

A guy my buddy knows gave him these rods and pistons for his '95 GT w/ 302, butwhen installed they sat too high. The Rods are recon. C3AE-D Rods that from some research seem to be used in 260's, 289's, and 406's. I keep coming up with 1963-65 289 Cobra's using these rods in particular. At one site I was able to come up with a 1963406 Galaxie, and I was told Mustangs with 289's and Boss 302's used these Rods but I do not know for sure. The pistons are brand new never used Forged .030 TRW Pistons L2218. Nothing comes up when Ive searched for that part number. Anyone have a guess what motor these Rods and Pistons are really for or want to toss out some info of any kind?

they are 289 rods, 5.155 length instead of 5.090 (302's) length.

if you can get pistons with a shorter pin height they would be better to use then the 302 rods. in any case, dont just pitch em.... someone will want em

^^ok cool thanks. Im not gonna touch them Im just going to try and sell the rods and pistons separate.

I believe the bolts are 3/8" does that mean they are hi-po rods? I guess the ones used in the shelby cobras?

i'd have to check the casting numbers to verify but if they are stock 3/8 bolts then they are the 289 hi-po / boss 302 rods and are worth more money. if they are regular rods with bigger bolts installed they are actually weaker than before and i wouldnt use them (not that you are going to)

All of the rods havethe Ford cursive F followed by C3AE-D. On the other sides of the rods I have all different numbers. One for example says :
63
M

B2 33

another says:
K81

P125
with "Recond. FOR TRW P.N." printed on the side with the C3AE-D
