Default Correct blue?

Can anyone tell me the absolutly correct engine paint color for my 1968 289.According to How to Restore Your Mustangdulpicolor #1606 dark ford blue is right. But other booksjust say ford blue or medium ford blue. To make things worse on mine is originially this lighter blue color. Which is correct? Did different factories use different blues, mine is a ca car? Help anyone?

i fon't know but according to
http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/...nes/index.html

it's "Ford Corporate Blue"

... 1968. What do all of theseengines have in common? They're all blue--Ford Blue--from air cleaner tooil pan.
In case you haven't figured it out, Ford became committed to FordCorporate Blue after 1965. It was an engine color people could identifywith; if it's dark blue, it must be a Ford powerplant. ...

i dopn't knwo about the paint code exactly. i read everything like:
Plastikote 224
Plastikote Royal Blue (1134)
Duplicolor Dark Ford Blue (1606)

Also Krylon 1923 IAW the NPD catalog pg 238. ( i used the krylon since it is available from ACE Hardware and much cheaper than the 6.75 a can from the mustang houses).

yes. I have the light blue as well in my 64.5 as it's a 66 engine (and I don't care about it)

but yes. that light blue is definetly incorrect in a 68

I ran a thread a while back on this. I would go with "Old Ford Blue" it is an inbetween shade. Dark Ford Blue is REALLY dark. and Ford Blue is kinda light.
