Default First DRIVE with T5

FINALLY!! got everything put back together and took her out for the first drive with the manual. It was also the first time I have driven the car since the fall so I was doubly excited. All I can say is that the the c4 is a FAR cry from the new T5. WAY more fun to drive!

Yeah!

I still haven't got mine back! (6 weeks now)

I'll get the joy of a C4 -> T5 and also a rebuilt engine

Do you feel some sort of power gain?

Yeah I had a 3speed in the fall and now a T5. There is a real difference in drivability and the car is much more fun to drive.

I had a t-10 in my 66 with 3.50 gears and at 65 it was close to 3k... I swapped out for a t-5 and now cruises at 2000 at 65... hugr difference and the ratios are wat better than my t-10 was

I have 3.73 rear- end.. I am not sure speed wise because my speedometer never worked when I had my c4.. But having that overdrive gear is a Godsend at higher speeds. Also I can feel a big difference in power just in acceleration

Man I would love to do that someday!
How much did it cost to do the whole swap? How much work did you do yourself?

I only ask because I would love to swap my C4 for the T5 but my trans only has 20k miles on it so I doubt I will do it for years. But when I do, I will probably pay someone to do it for me.... That is beyond my scope of automotive skills. Have fun! Dont wreck that BEAUTIFUL car.

It was fairly expensive because I bought the entire kit from Modern Driveline. I did the entire swap by myself with some help from my dad. as far as difficulty, I thought it was a pretty smooth install; the only part that sucks is working under the dash.

Thanks in regards to the car... It gets me from point A to point B

Are you constantly prone to understatement or was this just a fluke?
