Do you think this is misguided???
My father in law, who is a long time classicmustang owner and typically a vintage puritan, has his 65 fastback stripped to the tub for a long overdue total restoration. He's primarily a do it yourselfer. As he is planning his rebuild, he's kicking around putting a turbocharged v6 from a late model mustang in place of his 289. He has the mindset of making this a daily driver. He's imagining some zip, as well as some good fuel economy. My guess is that after all of that fabrication and shoe-horning, he would be dissappointed on both fronts. Do you know of any classics with such a setup? How do you think it would do?

I don't know, he might end up with a pretty good combo, never can tell!
While I don't think this is something you orI would do, I think you should stand behind him and help if and when you can... Might be the begining of a whole new kick for him, after doing this, he might decide that a turbocharged V-8 is in his future...
Besides, you could probably pick up the 289 take out cheap!
Havent seen that set up done.
A guy on here has a svo 4 setup looking sweet hes building.
The flacon guys I knew were doing turbos and paxtons on the inline 300 6cyl from the old f150's those were very quick.

A turbo 302 with a 6 speed and proper gearing will cost less, be faster and get the same mileage, or perhaps better if built right. A late model V6 would be a lot of work to put into a classic.
