Default For Sale

I have a 65 289 coupe. It's in really good condition but my dad wants me in something more "reliable". I don't want to get rid of it but it's not my choice. So I was wondering if anyone might know how much it's worth?? It's really cute, it has sky blue DuPont paint, white top, white interior w/blue carpet, and a re-built V8 engine, Flow Masters with low miles.
***Thanks***

First off, welcome to the site. We would need more information to even guess what your car is worth. A thorough inspection of the body would be necessary. Rust is our biggest enemy, so that would have to be inspected. It sounds as though you have a fairly plain Jane 65 though, so don't expect too much. Advertise it for what you wish to get for it, then see how many hits you get. Advertise it locally and nationally through EBay. Take lots of digital pictures of it to include the undercarriage, interior, etc. Also, look below for the For Sale section on this site. Good luck, and sorry you have to sell her.

Just Tell your dad that you will sell her and never do.

How much did you pay for it? What parts have you added since you bought it? Does it have rust on the floor pans, wheel wells, trunk, frame rails. rocker panels, torque boxes or any other place. Is the interior clean and not cracked? Any squeaks or weird noises?
See, there are lots of questions that have to be answered before anyone can give you an estimate.

...can any mechanic give an estimate?
In a word: "no!" Not unless they're well-versed in vintage Mustangs...

It's not like selling a Civic or Focus or something. These are sought-after vintage cars, and are known to have specific problem areas. "Joe Grease-Monkey" might look at a K-code GT fastback and say it's just some worn-out old car that's worth about $500. Or on the other hand, he may say a rusted-through 6 cylinder hardtop is some super-rare Shelby collectors item worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Find a Mustang club in your area and ask one of the members to spend 15 minutes going over the car with you. Learn the areas to point out to buyers (both good and bad). Clean the entire car - top and bottom; inside and out. Don't try to mask any problems. People will appreciate your honesty...

thanks for all the advice and ideas guys. do you think it looks good on the outside? there's no rust at all and i keep the top really clean so it will stay white. the inside is just as clean if not cleaner than the outside. There's way too much stuff to list that's been replaced or upgraded. I'm thinking about putting flame throwers on it just for fun..what do u think?

Flame throwers, as in paint the sides with flames? You have got to be kidding. That alone would lower the price of a vintage Mustang. Vintage Mustang guys and gals are serious folks when it comes to our rides, and we ridicule ricers and such.

Flame throwers, as in a kit that shoots flames out the tail pipes.
