Default different colors

My wife and I still cant pick a color that we want for her 1968. We really dont like the original 68 colors very much.

who has and what do you guys think about:
1. painting another years colors.
2. just doing a newer cars metallic type paint. (this is the way we are leaning)

she wants some type of gun metal silver/gray color.
i found some 2004 color codes and im just not sure what a metallic would look like on a classic car and how bad it would hurt resale if we ever decide to sell 20 years from now.

Half of the original colors were metallic. Have you lookedat a chip chart for 68?

The way I see it is its not an original concourse car so go ahead and paint it what you both want to. If not you'll always wish you had. Pick a color and go lay the paint!

My mustang is painted "98 Mustang Red" not an original 64 1/2 color by any means.

Two days ago I had an older gentleman about 60 years old follow me about 6 miles till I hit my destination just to ask me what color my Mustang was painted. He was going on and on about how much he loved the color and is in the processes of prepping for paint but hadn't picked a color yet.

I say go with what you like or you will be disappointed in the long run.

I painted mine the new Ford version of the original color. In 05/06 they had Legend Lime available on the mustangs as a tribute to the old Lime Gold, so when we were having it repainted it was an obvious choice. You may want to consider looking at the current mustang colors for the 08 and see if you like any of those silver/grays.
