Rusty Cowl Panel-What would you do??
Just order the upper and lower cowl replacements. Since its stripped down anyways now is the time to do it. I just got my cowl removed and have the new replacements as well.
BTW... Was talking to a guy today who does body workand he said to not bother re doing all the spot welds when putting it back in. Instead use (grrr I forget the name of it...) ...that body compound you use for attaching sheet metal to a car. He gave me the name of the stuff to use and said it had something like 3000 pound holding power and that he has used it on a couple cars over the last few years. Said its faster, easier and actually stronger then doing all the spot welds. Just something to think about... I'm still going to look into it a bit more but its a great idea if it will work.
Someone else maybe able to suggest brands or opinions on this....

Adrenolin, if you trust the bond the sheet metal together glue stuff then you use it. They didn't put it together from the factory like that an I personally wont touch the stuff. Why would anyone? Welding metal together is a time proven method. This new glue it together becasue it is faster is a bunch of crap. What happens in 10 years when "oh no I guess this stuff doesn't work" happens? I know it won't happen on my car because I won't use it.
You have a great head start...the dash is out. Forego the bonding material. Weld it. That's how I did mine...and it's perfect..

I purchased the units that are already put together from mustangs unlimited. I will weld it to the rest of the car.
Bonding adhesive is for fiberglass only in my opinion.

Check your cowl sides as well. Also, your firewall. You're at the point right now where it is easy to get those too..... (my car was very similar to yours when I started...)

Looks like someone has seperated it already or at least removedsome of the spot welds.Half of the fun is over. Just replace the areas with the patch Panels and go one step futher than Ford, and PAINT the area. Then spot weld it back together. Thats a better idea.
