Default Offset Shackles

I have been thinking about doing a minitub on the rear wheel housings while the car is apart. I saw Competituion Engineering offers offset shackles that move the sprins in 2-1/2" without having to relocate the mounts. Has anyone tried these?

wouldnt you have to relocate the spring pad mounts on the axle also and relocate the front hangers inboard? ive never done it but sounds interesting. you can fit a decent size tire in the wheel wells with minor massaging or are you going to run some drag slicks.

I've always wondered how you move the springs inward since they connect directly to the frame rails???

I just wanted to run a larger street tire without the bulged out look. You can only get another 1-1/2" by comming in without causing rear seat interferance. Yes I will have to move the axle brackets, but that is the easy part.

The doesn't answer the question. How large of a rear tire do you want to run?

People run 285s on 17 inch rims on basically stock cars. But just for reference what kinda motor do you have that you think you would actually need anything more than say a nice 275 on a 9.5 rim?

The engine right now is a 351W. It may be a 393 before long. I just want to run the wider tires without the puffed out look that I see other stangs and Camaros having.

The right back spacing and wheel to fit your tub you won't have that problem.A lot of people do a mini tub with out moving the springs.Theres a company selling rear wheel wells for the 64-66 that fit a 20 inch rim with out moving the springs.
