I have a 68 convertible that came with a center console for an auto trans. I am putting a 5 speed manual trans and would like to have a center console. I have seen them in 67 mustang. but the only 68 have been auto's. Could you get a console in a 68 with a manual trans?

 

I am in almost the same spot. I have a '68 that came with a Top Loader stock. I am doing a resto/mod and would like to have a center console. I have seen repro/NOS parts for the console but not the console body itself. I had been planning on fabbing my own console (and still may...just so it is set up EXACTLY like I want it) but will be following this thread with interest to see what comes up.

I think CJ PonyParts and NPD carry the manual console now. I want one.

 

my body workes at npd and thay only have the console for the 67 manual trans. he said thay don't make one for the manual trans in the 68. this is my first mustang that was not built in the 90's so i am trying to learn every thing i can. I know some one that just got a original from the columbus swap meet but it is for a 67. don't know if is the same as the 68 or not.

 

The '67 and '68 are almost identical in terms of the body and certainly in terms of interior dimensions. If you want a console I'm sure the '67 will work with little or no mods. I looked at my NPD catalog and at their online catalog and could not find a '67 or '68 console. If you find a part # for one please post it.

 

You could be different and get a coguar one just like Shelby did for the 67/68 cars.

 

i like that idea, my Buddie has a 68 cougar xr7 convertible. he had a center console for it and decided not to put it in. I am going to see if he wants to trade me for my automatic console.
