4.7 V8 289 Start problem
Apparently now itcranks with out clicking?
"The only time i can get power running through it is if there is an outsource of power, such as a battery charger or boost cables. Even when its hooked up however, when you turn rhe key and try to start it i get this weird buzzing sound like a teansformer blowing or something. Im new at this whole car thing so i dont know much, i figured the best way to learn is trial and error, but i hear how deliquite these cars are so i dont want to skrew it up. any help is much appericiated. Thanks. "
To get the starter relay/NSS operationout of the question, pull the wire off of the S terminal and using a screw driver short fro the s terminal and battery hot. It it cranks normmaly, is in the NSS or circuit, the relay or S wire connection. If it don't crank normally, it's low voltage related.

Well i found something today! Some guy was over fixing my yard when i opened the garage door and he saw the car. It turns out he was a mechanic as well so i told him the problem and he took a look. It turns out that on the selenoid, the wire running on the right side to the starter is caroded and touching the engine block, which would explain the loss of voltage. We looked underneath the car with some trickymanuvering and found sveral holes and contact spots on the wire, so im thinking that this is a serious contribution to the problem. Im going to fix this first this weekend and try it, if it fails I will attempt these other suggestions. THanks everyone for your support, I realy appericiate it!

if that's the case then your problem should have been: wires smoking when trying to start or worse battery exploding ...
jaysus. yah. replace that wire ...

before I start taking things appart and spend mone y on the wire, does anyone know the guage of the wire coming from the selenoid to the starter? Also on a wireing diagaram the connection is protected with a fuse link, does this mean that there is a fuse there, and if so could this be the reason of my intermitant auxilary power?
as for the dodgy cable. just rip it out (disconnect battery before doing that
go to a local car parts store and they should have that. It's nothing special to a Mustang.
maybe you just need different connectors to a standard cable.
The size (gauge) I have no ideas about, but it should be the same as the standard battery cable that goes from battery to selonoid or from battery to chassis (the ground cable).
The diagram is from a 66 model and I cannot see any fuses in that area, so let me know where you get the info from, or if you are talking about a completely different cable.
The diagram shows roughly the view in relation when you stand at your front left fender.
From your description i believe the dodgy cable is the one going from the starter relays (most people call it selonoid) to the sarter itself.

there are two places i heard of it, one is in tha Haynes repair manuel, and the other was a forum at about.com, heres the link
http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl753d.htm
the person talks about going to start it and it died, and now when he goes to turn the key, nothing happens, no lights and no click, which happens to me now. He got the answer from somebody saying ther is a fusible link, but i dont know what that is, nor do I know how to fix it. lol!

ok everybody, i got some good news and some bad news
. The bad news is it still doesnt start. The good news is, it doesnt click or buzz anymore, the engine turns over and the fan starts going, it just cant get a spark. I tried priming it with starter fluid but no such luck, any suggestions? my guage says it has a quarter tank of gas, which sounds just about right to me.

fuses are in the kickpanel area. under the dash right in front of the drivers door. just above wehere you would mount a speaker.
what dos that above mean exactly now? does your car start when you turn the key?
