new engine is overheating
Well i fixed the flexplate problem a new problem has arise with the new engine. It is overheating rising to 190 and over. I bought a new reverse rotation derale racing fan rated at 8000 rpms. I still have not installed either of the valve breathers, could this be the problem? I will probably check the thermostat, but I am hoping I will not need any new electric fans or radiator. This is a modified engine from a 92 f250 that has been carbd.
maybe the thermostat is broken and not opening properly? possibly the radiator is clogged and just needs a good flush? or just get a lower deg thermostat
if not maybe you want to look into a high flow water pump
all that comes to mind

^+1 i was watching Xtreme 4x4 and they said if the top point of your engine coolant system is higher than the top of the RAD, youll get an air bubble, best advice i can give you is yo get it flowing on an anglie (i.e driveway) shut it off, and fill it there, to get rid of the bubble
Hey Javier, 190 ain't hot .... don't even worry until it gets to 212*, and with a pressurized system you can go hotter than that.
That said, if you are sitting there idling with no fan (I am not sure if you are saying it is installed or not!) the engine will get hot.
If you are idling with the fan on and the engine is getting above 200* you may have a cooling issue. The first thing to do is to make sure that you don't have an air bubble trapped under the thermostat. If the top hose is getting HOT then the thermostat is opening at least some, and probably totally, and you don't have an air lock.
The biggest issue with these cars over heating is a radiator insufficient for the engine. you should be running a 3 row copper at least, but a 4 row or a 2 row aluminum is more sure.
Are you running a serpentine belt? If so, then you do have the right water pump right? (I assume you do since you stated that your fan is reverse, but I gotta ask!

I think it does not go over 190 idle, but when i drove it for three blocks it got up close to 220. The water pump was for that model engine, so hopefully that is not the problem. The radiator is probably very old, but in good condition.
