Default need motor decoded

I finally pulled the motor out of my 1st pony the #'s under the starter is D10E-6015-AA I think it is 6015 could be 8015. It is a '65, it does have 302 heads though. I am basing this on the angled plugs

D - 1970
1 - Decade Year
0 -Fairlane/Torino
E - Engine
6015 - Basic Part Number
AA - Design Change

So the engine is from a 1971 Fairlane or Torino which would make it a 302 not a 289

Info came from this site.

Ok, I thought you were trying to figure out if it was a 302 or 289.

It is very possible that its a 351W. I'm trying to remember the visual differences between the 302 and 351. I know the 351 is wider and has about a 1.5" higher deck height. I have also been told that the 351W has a 4 more bolts than the 302's intake, but only if I could remember how many bolts were on the intake of my 289.

Alright, I don't have my car with me to let you know for sure. But doing a little research the 289/302 have 12 and the 351 have 16. That should give you insite into what engine you have. It 351 needs that many bolts because its intake is much larger.

I went and counted 12, but the pics of 351W i have seen show the top radiator hose connecting to the front ( not top) of the block as mine does on top

289/302/351W all have the thermostat housing connected to the intake manifold. 351C's have thethermostat housing boltedstraight to the top of the block. Since it's a 65 I doubt if it is a 351W or C. And I doubt that anyone would put the more restrictive heads from a 302 on a 351W.How about a picture? This site may help: http://www.fordification.com/engineID.htm

Alright I went over to a truck forum, and found this bit of info.
"just to the right of the distributer..there will be a rib cast into the block from the intake mounting surface to the distributer mounting deck. If it has this extra rib, it is a 351. A 302 does not have this rib"

Also
"seems to me that 289/302 intake is 7/8" across & 351 is 10" across."

Hopefully this should clear up the confusion. I had to go elsewhere for info because this is not my area of expertise.
