Mach 1
Hi, i just found these forums a couple days ago and have been a mustang enthusiast for a while. I do not own a mustang right now, but i have the chance to buy a 1970 Mach 1 M code with a 351C for 7000 (all matching numbers). This would be my first mustang project, but when i went and looked at it, there was a major rust problem. The floorpans would need replaced aswell as the front clip and the fenders might also need replaced. But, if i buy this it does come with a donor mach 1 also.
Or would I better off buying somthing else???

I have always advised to buy the most rust free car your budget will allow. Fixing rust is VERY expensive if you are not capable of doing the repairs yourself. Even if you have the ability (and tools) to do it yourself it is not cheap. Good luck!!!!
Hes right rust can get pricey fast unless you love that car and can't find anything else in your price range keep looking. Took me 6 months to find my 68 it was well worth it.I looked at a lot of rusted to hell high priced junk too.
I paid 12K for my 69 Mach 1 last year. It's 100% rust free and a matching numbers car. It only needs light body work before paint. Since it's Dearborn built, I was able to get the original Ford invoice from Marti. The point is, they're still out there to find if you keep looking.
Good luck!

BTW 4reboy, My Mach 1 camefrom the factory painted Winter Blue. I'm planning to re-paint it that color. Is your Mach Winter Blue as well? If so, I hope mine comes out as nice as yours!
All the best!

well, the guy also had just a regular 1970 fastback that doesnt have as much rust damage and is only 3500, I dont think it has matching numbers, but I could care less about that,
it only has the 6 cylinder, but I can get an old f150 from a friend that has a really nicely rebuilt 351c in it for $600, so i could put that in this mustang. And like i said the matching numbers doesnt matter to me since i will be building this just for myself , not for shows
does this sound like a better deal than the mach 1 ???
