Rear Tire size??
What is the widest tire you can fit on the rear of a 67 fastback before cutting into the wheel wells??
I will be using different wheels and new axles. I ahvent decided yet, so all options are open. I will most likely go with whatever will allow me to use the largest rear tire.
If i need to extend the wheels wells then i can. I will just eliminate the backseat and put a fiberglass cover over it like the original 65 shelbys had.
I might do that anyway since the backseat is somewhat useless.

go to the FAQ and look at Dodgestang's tyre and wheel chart.
depending on wheel width and back spacing i think 265 is possible without mods or maybe with rolling thelip a little.

Unique Performance standard rear tire size was a 275/40/17. Optional up to 315 with minor tubbing.
You're right in that minor tubbing will make it more difficult to fit the rear fold-down, it's far easier to install the "rear seat delete" 65-66 Rcode FG shelf.
The 275 tire is plently of tire for a 408W.... unless your intentions are to try and break traction. You can break traction with any size tire you run.... you just have to find that "sweet spot" on your RPMs where the most power is transmitted to the wheels without breaking traction.

So, i can make the 65 or 66 fiberglass seat delete shelf fit in the 67 without too many problems???
If more than one person wants a ride.... they can go build their own car if they don't feel like waiting for the front seat to open up.

Yes, and in my opinion this is your best/easiest option.

I have 255/40 18's on my 68 Convertible right now. I have about 3/4 to 1 inch clearance on both sides. I am going to try to fit a 285/40 18 on there once my wider rear wheels come in. Should be in about 2-3 weeks. I don't think I will have problems with the 285's but if I do I will settle with 275's.
