When I got my car sandblasted the guy advised against soda blasting because it costs a LOT more and doesn't really have many benefits. It is true that soda blasting is gentler but that just means it won't take off a lot. It will do about 1 layer at a time, and it won't gut through rust and undercoating. Sandblasting on the other hand when done properly won't warp the metal, will be cheaper, and will be faster. Sandblasting will only warp the metal if it is hitting the metal straight on for a long enough time to heat up the metal. If you're shooting the sand at the metal at a sharp angle it won't warp it and will take it all off properly.

and that link you posted to the "soda blaster" look just like the sand blaster I got at harbor freight for less than a hundred bucks... like it is the exact same thing just name brand. It even says you can switch it to sand, meaning further that its the same thing lol. I say look around for a better price for the same product...

The use of a chemical stripper willlessen the time of removal and use of media. Heres mine with the use just water and the stripper. It started with a couple of coats of brake fluid then a cleaning with the pressure cleaner. Then twocoats with the chemical stripper (Aircraft) and a good wash after each. I did scrape the heavy stuff. You have to time the stripper and not let it sit overnight as it will harden back up. Cost less than $60, but I have a pressure washer. Less tham 8 hours on the engine bay and bottom. The surface rust will happen in minutes after the metal is clean. Phosphoric acid will kill it and buy time untill you can get it in 2k.

Hey.. will the Phosphoric acid kill and remove the surface rust on my car above? Its kept inside the garage and has Not gotten any worse since last Friday. The surface rust hit surprisingly fast.. like you said, within minutes of the removal of the paint and primers. I know I have to sand the entire car this week and then get it primed. Should I use the acid before and then after sanding to keep it clean for priming or does it need to be washed off? Unfortunately the car isn't being primed until mid / end of the week.

Sorry but I haven't used the acid before and would like to know how to best 'protect' the car before and after sanding and then until its epoxy primed later in the week. Thanks!
