Replacing the timing chain on my 66 Fastback with a 302 and in my Chilton manual it says something about an oil slinger on the end of the crank?? isnt there just the rubber crank seal that fits into the timing cover?? just want to be sure before i reassemble.

There was originally a stamped steel metal plate that fits on the end of the crank, but it often gets lost during a rebuild, and you shouldn't need it if you installed a roller timing chain.
